The way you’ve taken the pictures, the bare trees and the grey sky in the background couple with your report make reading this entry one of the most profoundly depressing experiences I’ve had all month.

I think a large reason she upsets internet people, and people in general really is that she’s demonstrated a fairly large amount of raw talent, so her antics can’t just be dismissed with the likes of “and her music’s crap anyway”.

Given the last few performances I’ve seen her do on the box, her ability to actually perform her songs looks like it’s taken a nosedive (in fact the first time I ever saw her she consistently didn’t hit a single note), but those albums are out there as well, and they’re both bloody good, even if it looks like she may expire before she puts out another one.

Why, she’s a modern day Janis Joplin.

Mmmm. Sounds familiar. My company operates in the same way, only the payroll cutoff is on about the 2nd or 3rd of the month. So all bonuses (for being on-call or travelling) earned this month don’t show up until next month, potentially 6-7 weeks after I’ve actually done the work. Mind you, being on-call is pretty much money for old rope, and travelling is hardly ever dull.

And expenses…I got properly fucked-over when they sent me to Norway. I paid for all my hotel, meals and travel out of my own pocket in Europe’s most expensive coutry (TM), and it then took them six WEEKS to pull their collective finger out of their arse and pay me the nearly £1000 they owed me.

A lot of the time, what with food to put on the table and all, it means struggling to make ends meet, and using the bonus, expenses or whatever to pour into the huge debt-hole I’ve managed to dig for myself.

I do get to go to some interesting places, though, so it’s not all bad…

Ello mate, I’ll be honest, I did think you’d dropped off the face of the internet. If it wasn’t for the very irregular status updates on Facebook, I’d probably have assumed the worst and put up a memorial page (”Bud, he got riled by popular culture, he’s at peace now”) for you. Anyway, glad to have you and your bile back on t’internet. On the strength of the posts following this one, though, you seem to be a bit less angry these days, n’est-ce pas?

I once got drunk. I asked the disc jockey to play some Mudhoney. He looked at me with some disdain and said “I’ve just played some two songs ago.” Then he did a double take and looked at me with double disdain. “You’re the one who asked for it.” I don’t think I’ve bought or even heard any Mudhoney since that day.
